Description
Dual-Mode Hybrid LTE & IDAS Digital Portable Radio
Hybrid radio combining nationwide LTE broadband push-to-talk with conventional 5W VHF or UHF IDAS digital and analog operation.
The Icom IP730D and Icom IP740D series transceivers represent a revolutionary dual-mode hybrid communication solution designed to eliminate dead zones for field crews. By integrating nationwide 4G/3G LTE cellular push-to-talk with conventional licensed LMR (VHF for IP730D, UHF for IP740D), these radios ensure your team stays connected whether operating across town or in remote regions beyond cellular coverage.
Featuring innovative dual Push-To-Talk (PTT) buttons, the Icom IP730D / IP740D allows operators to key LTE conversations on the main PTT button while instantly switching to local 5-Watt IDAS digital or analog channels on the secondary PTT button. An integrated Bridge Function can relay received LMR radio traffic directly onto the LTE talkgroup and vice versa, enabling seamless cross-network routing. Built to IP67 dustproof and waterproof standards, this hybrid transceiver includes full-duplex LTE communications, 1500 mW loud audio, integrated GPS location tracking, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Icom IP730D and IP740D?
The Icom IP730D operates on VHF (136–174 MHz) conventional LMR frequencies plus LTE, while the Icom IP740D operates on UHF (350–470 MHz / 400–520 MHz) conventional LMR frequencies plus LTE.
How do the dual PTT buttons work on the IP730D / IP740D series?
The main PTT button activates LTE cellular push-to-talk for wide-area communications, while the secondary (sub) PTT button activates local 5W VHF or UHF conventional IDAS digital or analog transmissions.
What is the Bridge Function on the IP730D and IP740D?
The Bridge Function acts as a field repeater, relaying incoming IDAS digital radio audio onto the LTE cellular talkgroup and routing LTE network audio back out to local IDAS handheld transceivers.
Does the IP730D / IP740D require a cellular subscription?
Yes, the LTE push-to-talk features require an active Icom LTE network service subscription, while the 5W VHF/UHF conventional channels operate independently on licensed radio frequencies.
Is the Icom IP730D / IP740D waterproof?
Yes, the Icom IP730D and IP740D are IP67 rated, making them completely dust-tight and waterproof when submerged in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes.
