Frequently Asked Questions
Does the PMAD4121B support GPS?
Yes. The PMAD4121B supports both the 160–174 MHz VHF voice range and GPS 1575 MHz frequencies in a single antenna. Note that the DP2000 and XPR3000 series radios do not have GPS capability, but are still compatible with this antenna for VHF voice communication.
What is the difference between the PMAD4121 and the PMAD4121B?
The PMAD4121B is the current factory revision of the PMAD4121. Both part numbers refer to the same VHF/GPS combination stubby antenna with identical specifications and compatibility.
Why choose a stubby antenna over a standard whip?
At 90 mm, the PMAD4121B is significantly shorter than a standard whip antenna, making it ideal for belt-worn use. It reduces the risk of the antenna snagging on clothing or equipment during active shifts. Trade-off: stubby antennas typically have a slightly shorter effective range than full-length whip antennas.
