Yes. The Icom BP290 has been discontinued and is no longer in production. The BP294 is the official replacement. It is a direct drop-in upgrade with a higher typical capacity (3150 mAh vs. 2000 mAh on the BP290) and the same IP67 waterproof rating, compatible with all the same F52D, F62D, M85, and M85E radios.
Will the BP294 fit my radio if it previously used a BP290?
Yes. The BP294 is a direct physical and electrical replacement for the BP290 — no modifications or adapters are required. It fits and charges using the same chargers compatible with the BP290.
Does the higher capacity of the BP294 affect charging time?
