Description
Motorola MOTOTRBO R2 Digital & Analog Portable Two-Way Radio
The next generation of everyday professional communication, built lighter, tougher, and louder to seamlessly replace the legendary CP200d.
The Motorola MOTOTRBO R2 Portable Two-Way Radio is the official, upgraded successor to the industry-standard CP200d. Designed for organizations that require a rugged and highly reliable communication solution, the R2 delivers superior audio clarity, exceptional range, and all-day battery life. It is the perfect daily workhorse for busy construction sites, sprawling school campuses, event security, and manufacturing facilities.
One of the greatest advantages of the Motorola R2 is its seamless migration path. It was engineered to be fully backward compatible with the exact same 2-pin audio accessories, antennas, and multi-unit chargers as your legacy CP200 and CP200d radios. This saves fleet managers the massive expense of replacing an entire accessory ecosystem when upgrading their communication hardware.
Fleet managers can deploy the analog-only version of the R2 today to interoperate with legacy fleets, and seamlessly transition to full Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) capabilities later via a software license upgrade. Please note that programming your new fleet requires the official Motorola Customer Programming Software (CPS 2.0) and a compatible micro-USB programming cable, both of which are sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my old CP200d chargers and earpieces with the Motorola R2?
Yes. Motorola specifically designed the R2 to use the exact same 2-pin audio connector and battery charging profile as the CP200d. You can plug your old CP200d earpieces, speaker mics, and multi-unit chargers directly into the R2 without any adapters.
What is the difference between the Analog and Digital R2?
The Digital (DMR) version provides clearer audio at the edge of your coverage zone, better battery life, and advanced calling features. If you purchase the Analog-only version to communicate with an older fleet, you can unlock full Digital capabilities at any time in the future by purchasing a software upgrade license.
Is the Motorola R2 waterproof?
The R2 features a highly durable IP55 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and is resistant to low-pressure water jets from any direction. It will easily survive rain, splashes, and tough outdoor environments, though it should not be fully submerged.
Warranty
Covered by a robust 3-year manufacturer's warranty on the radio handset, and a 1-year manufacturer's warranty on included accessories (battery, charger, antenna).
