The Motorola PMNN4489D is a high-performance IMPRES Li-Ion battery designed for use in hazardous environments. UL-rated and TIA4950 certified, it ensures safe and reliable operation in potentially explosive atmospheres. With a 2900mAh capacity, it provides over 25 hours of talk time when used with an XPR 7000e series radio.
With its IP68 rating, the PMNN4489D is fully submersible at two meters for up to two hours, built for the most demanding field conditions. The PMNN4489D is the current factory revision, replacing the PMNN4489, PMNN4489A, PMNN4489B, and PMNN4489C. It is also a compatible replacement for the Motorola NNTN8560C.

Intrinsically safe (IS) certification means the PMNN4489D is designed and tested to prevent ignition of flammable gases, vapors, or dust in hazardous locations. The UL and TIA4950 certifications confirm it meets the required safety standards for use in Division 1 and Division 2 hazardous environments such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and mining.
Is this battery UL rated?
Yes. The PMNN4489D is UL rated for intrinsically safe operation. This certification is required for use in classified hazardous locations where standard batteries are not permitted. If you do not require intrinsically safe certification and are looking for a standard battery option for radios like the XPR7550e or XPR7350e, the following non-IS alternatives are available:
Does the PMNN4489D require an IMPRES charger?
No. The PMNN4489D will charge in any compatible Motorola charger. However, using an IMPRES charger unlocks automatic adaptive reconditioning, which maximizes talk time and extends the battery’s service life. Non-IMPRES chargers will charge the battery but will not provide reconditioning.
Is the PMNN4489D a direct replacement for earlier revisions?
