The Icom F7010 / F7020 / F7040 Series are small, lightweight, DHS P25 CAP certified (TIA-102) compliant portables engineered for law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and government utilities. Operating natively on P25 Phase 1 conventional networks, each radio can be upgraded to Phase 1 trunking and Phase 2 trunking via license key — no hardware swap required. Built to a remarkably slim 38.2mm (1.5") profile with the BP-284 battery, the F7000 series delivers uncompromising durability and multi-agency interoperability in the smallest possible package.
Every transceiver features a high-resolution color LCD with Day and Night display modes, Icom's custom high-power-handling speaker delivering 1300mW of intelligible audio, an integrated GPS receiver, built-in Bluetooth, and a microSD card slot for up to 500 hours of voice recording. Optional FIPS 140-3 compliant AES encryption (UT-125FIPS) and Over-the-Air Rekeying (OTAR) are available for agencies requiring the highest levels of communications security.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Icom F7010 / F7020 / F7040 need to be programmed?
Yes, these radios must be programmed with your licensed frequencies and talkgroups before use. You'll be asked at checkout whether you'd like programming, or you can add it in advance via our Atlantic Radio Programming Services page. To program them yourself, you'll need the Icom CS-F7000 programming software and the OPC2338 programming cable, both sold separately.
What is the difference between the T and S suffix models?
The T designation indicates a Full DTMF Keypad layout for front-panel programming, manual frequency entry, and selective calling. The S designation is a Simple Keypad with streamlined directional controls that prevent accidental setting changes during field operations.
Can the radio be upgraded to Phase 1 or Phase 2 trunking?
Yes. The F7000 series ships P25 Phase 1 conventional-ready. Phase 1 trunking requires the ISL-P25TR license key. Phase 2 trunking requires both ISL-P25P2 and ISL-P25TR. No hardware changes are needed — upgrades are applied via license key.
Can this radio series track field locations or team coordinates?
Yes. Every variant includes an integrated GPS receiver capable of displaying location coordinates on the color LCD and transmitting automated GPS position packets over the air. P25 packet data transmission requires the ISL-P25DS license key.
Do these portables arrive with standard desktop chargers included?
No. The radio ships with the BP-284 battery pack, MB-133 belt clip, and band-specific antenna. The BC219N Desktop Rapid Charger must be purchased separately.
Is the audio logging software capable of saving call data to a PC?
Yes. Voice recordings stored on the microSD card are saved as WAV files. You can extract the card or connect the radio via USB (data transfer mode) to archive recordings on a PC.
Can I use standard consumer Bluetooth earbuds with these radios?
The integrated Bluetooth is optimized for professional mission-critical audio accessories with dedicated PTT buttons, such as the 3M Peltor WS 5 or the Icom VS-3 Bluetooth Headset. Standard consumer earbuds are not recommended for public safety use.
Warranty
The Icom F7010, F7020, and F7040 series are covered by Icom's standard 3-year manufacturer's warranty on the radio and a 1-year warranty on accessories. Please contact Atlantic Radio Communications for warranty claims, support, or replacement inquiries.
