What is the difference between the Hytera BD502i and the BD612i? While both radios share similar internal technology, the BD612i features a much more rugged, reinforced chassis. The BD502i carries a standard IP54 rating (splash-resistant), whereas the BD612i carries a heavy-duty IP66 rating, meaning it can withstand direct, high-pressure water jets and heavy industrial abuse.
Will the BD612i work with my older Hytera TC-610 radios? Yes! Because the BD612i features dual-mode functionality, it can be programmed to operate in analog mode to communicate perfectly with your existing fleet of legacy TC-610 or TC-508 analog radios.
Is the BD612i fully waterproof? The IP66 rating means the radio is incredibly water-resistant and is safe to use in torrential rain, marine environments, or near heavy spraying water. However, it is not rated for complete, prolonged submersion underwater.
Are the batteries interchangeable with the BD502i? No. While they share the same audio earpieces, the BD612i utilizes a uniquely shaped battery (the BL1506 or BL2018) designed specifically to maintain the radio's tight IP66 waterproof seal.
